ABOUT Marc

My photo
Marc Kalech
Born and raised in New York City, MARC spent 35 years at the New York Post and was Managing Editor from 1993 to 2001. He is credited with leading the historic staff revolt that saved the tabloid and its 700 jobs. During his career at the paper, he served as copy-boy, reporter, night city editor and metropolitan editor. After the attack on the World Trade Center on 9/11/2001, he went to work for city government, becoming Director of Communications for William C. Thompson, Jr., the city's Comptroller. Marc was later named Director for Research and Special Projects after he was diagnosed with leukemia. Marc was summarily terminated from the comptroller's office when Thompson's term expired at the end of 2009. He continues to search for new work while continuing the fight against the incurable cancer. Since 1996, he is married to Marcia Kramer-Kalech, a noted TV journalist appearing on WCBS- TV (Ch. 2) in New York. The couple met while they were both young reporters toiling for competing newspapers on the night shift. Since joining Ch. 2, she has won nine Emmy awards and a prestigious Peabody.
